A Love Letter: Ono Hawaiian Plates

A Love Letter: Ono Hawaiian Plates

One taste of Hawaii in the Twin Cities.

Howzit Ono Hawaiian Pates,

I stay hungry just thinking about your poke right now. Don’t tell this to anyone, but the mainland really messed up poke. They just don’t know how it’s done Hawaiian style, like you. You should get one award just for bringing actual ahi poke to Minnesota. It reminds me of the one I’d eat straight from the cooler in the Foodland container. So choice. I miss eating l’dat.

Your kalua pork is broke da mouth. The BBQ chicken tastes like it’s right off the beach park grill. And your chicken katsu reminds me of lunch at L&L cruising with friends - gives me da kine, chicken skin.

I am so happy you’ve stayed open during this pandemic, bumbai I’d be too homesick. I’ve been telling choke people about you and I can’t wait until I can grind at your place. I’d love to talk story with Uncle Warren and Auntie Jessie. For now, mahalo for your easy curbside pickup in the North Loop - so cool you when keep your 808 number.

K shoots,
Aaron
